John B - Experience

I had an experience in 2008 which went without explanation for many years. Consequences¹ had placed me at a low point in my life, and I remember sitting alone with this thought: “If this is all there is, then I don’t want it.” Then suddenly something unexpected happened. I exploded with Joy and burst into tears. In one moment, for no apparent reason, I had shifted from agony to ecstasy. I felt immense gratitude and a wholeness I had never felt before. I knew it had to be some kind of spiritual experience,² but I had no context for it- It was outside of anything taught to me in church. The event was over in a matter of minutes but a vibrant quality remained during the weeks/months that followed and many positive things happened. Eventually the memory faded but was impossible to forget. Then finally, after about 15 years, I understood the experience after listening to talks by a man who goes by the name of “Sadhguru.”³
