I had an experience in 2008 which went without explanation for many years. I was at an extremely low point in my life, and I remember sitting alone with this thought: “If this is all there is, then I don’t want it.” And suddenly something unexpected happened. I exploded with Joy and burst into tears. In one moment, for no reason, I had shifted from anguish to ecstasy. I felt immense gratitude and a perfect wholeness I had never felt before. It had to be some kind of spiritual experience but I had no context for it. It did not align with the idea of “getting saved” which had been taught to me in church. Eventually the memory faded but was impossible to forget. Then finally, after about 15 years, I found some context after listening to talks by a man who goes by the name of “Sadhguru.”
