What Is Creation?

Creation Explained

Whether one resonates with the Big Bang Theory or other creation models, there’s no denying that creation exists. Whether or not creation exists as a stand-alone tangible entity or as a result of a creator has been a long-standing debate. We resonate with the idea that there is a source of everything which creates – whom we refer to as Source. Why is there a creation fellow souls? Before we dive into that little gem, let’s first elaborate on the concept of creation.

According to some of our resources, the term creation is used loosely. But, most make the distinction between the material and spiritual universes (Bhagavad Gita, 8:16). Swami Mukundananda (Bhakti Yog Saint & Yoga Teacher) explains that only one-fourth of Source’s entire creation is the material universe and the remaining three-fourth is the spiritual universe (Bhagavad Gita: 8:20, 10:42).

The material universe is thought of as the temporary, ever-changing world of matter — which includes causal, subtle astral, and gross physical planes of existence and varying degrees of sentient life forms. Sarah Elkhaldy (Spiritual Teacher & Energy Healer) refers to it as the synthetic world or matrix — a hologram which is a projection of light. The Shift of the Ages (C3) explains that nothing in the material universe really exists, and that everything is expanding and contracting from a single point of oneness (singularity) every moment. This seems to be distinct from the eternal, organic, spiritual universe which doesn’t cease even when the material universe does, as explained by the Bhagavad Gita (8:20). Are the spiritual and material universes what The Bible (Genesis, 1:1) refers to as heaven and earth?

While there may not be mainstream scientific evidence pertaining to why these universes have been created, it’s suggested that this particular iteration of the material universe was created by infinite Source so it can express and experience itself through finite matter, according to the Law of One (82:10).

When did this material universe come into existence? The mainstream scientific community contends that it was created more than 13 billion years ago. Swami Mukundananda (Bhakti Yog Saint & Yoga Teacher) offers an explanation of the Vedic calculation of time periods (Bhagavad Gita, 8:17-18). Essentially, one day and one night of Lord Brahma equals 4.32 billion Earth years each. Meaning one full day-and-night cycle is 8.64 billion Earth years. And the total life cycle of the material universe is said to be equivalent to Lord Brahma’s life span of 100 divine years, so that would be roughly 311.04 trillion Earth years. By those standards this iteration of creation is still in its infancy.

Source and Co-Creators

We resonate with the concept that the entire cosmos is a veritable form of Source, creating incredible diversity within unity (Bhagavad Gita, 7:5). Does this mean that both the material and spiritual universes are held within Source, as nothing can exist outside of Source, as explained by the Bhagavad Gita (10:42)? The concept of a creator or intelligent initiator has become less far-fetched in the mainstream scientific community. There appear to be many, including Stephan A. Schwartz (Scientist, Futurist & Author), who are diving deep into concepts like nonlocal consciousness as well as the state and conditions of the material universe before the Big Bang.

Semantics aside, it’s suggested that Source creates, heals, builds, destroys, and transforms the material universe with us – or more accurately, as an extension of itself. Ergo, Source is considered the ultimate delegator and multi-tasker. How does Source delegate? By empowering souls to work on Source’s behalf (Bhagavad Gita: 8:17-18, 9:10), including Lord Brahma (creator), Lord Vishnu (sustainer), and Lord Shiva (destroyer). Could these souls also be considered logoi (Law of One: 13:7, 19:12), deities, celestial gods, titans, and olympians (per Greek mythology)?

Consider this fellow souls. On a micro level, could we also be considered co-creators or co-laborers since our thoughts and actions help shape each material universe? Now that’s hard-hitting.
