What Is Kundalini Energy?

Kundalini Explained

Merging Counter-Rotating Vortices

When the ida and pingala energy channels are unbalanced, polarized life-force energies are said to create a zig-zag effect, manifesting as mental chatter, mood swings, and physical fluctuations. It’s thought that by practicing pranayama breathing exercises — the rhythmic control of inhalation, breath retention, and exhalation — we can harmonize or merge these counter-rotating vortices, snapping them into alignment. This alignment is said to create a metaphysical zero point or state of equilibrium (state of stillness). Could this be synonymous with the two forms of ether merging in David Wilcock’s (Researcher of Ancient Civilizations, 1973 – 2026) model and the middle pillar associated with the three pillars in the Kabbalah? Let us continue…

The vacuum effect draws the neutralized energies — now referred to as the one, unified, specialized form of para prakriti known as kundalini energy — into the central sushumna channel, initiating the kundalini process. Here, the upward-spiraling energy is said to shift its state from binding (the force maintaining physical form) to freeing (the seeking energy harmonizing the soul with Source). Could this process be what Jesus was referring to when stating that no man can come unto the Father but by him (The Bible: John, 14:5)? Perhaps “him”, referred to the middle way — the unified path of Christ Consciousness where we refine the mind and body to be in harmony with Source? Now that’s hard-hitting.

Once the sushumna is open, is said that kundalini energy rises toward the crown energy center, forcing us to confront and balance any distortions or blockages within the energy centers. In the steps of light ascension process — which typically occurs after death or during a harvest (Law of One, 6:14) — this upward energy is met by downward-pouring spiritual energy which is considered a stepped-down version of the divine light of Brahman (intelligent infinity, pure consciousness). The height at which these two spiritual energies successfully meet determines our spiritual progress and the specific plane of existence we can inhabit.

Spiritual Magnetism

The Law of One (49:5-6) describes the kundalini phenomenon through the lens of spiritual magnetism. The lower, southern, or negative pole at the base of the spine draws universal light energy from the Earth/cosmos and our lower energy centers, spiraling it upward. This seeking energy is met by the upper, northern, or positive spiraling energy moving downward from the crown energy center.

In this framework, the upward-moving seeking energy is synonymous with the evolutionary, seeking nature of light/love — hence material energy → life force energy → kundalini energy. This energy represents the totality of the soul’s spiritual effort and integrated experience. The downward-moving energy is synonymous with the sustaining nature of love/light, often associated with divine grace or the Mother (Shakti). Both light/love and love/light are distinct potencies of intelligent energy (prakriti) originating from intelligent infinity (divine light, pure consciousness). The only difference being their ratio of light to love.

The ultimate goal of the seeker is to use their will of seeking to move the meeting point of these two energies higher up the energy centers. As explained by the Law of One (49:5), the point of convergence reflects our overall vibratory understanding and consciousness level. As the Law of One (57:33) states, wherever these two spiraling lights meet, the realization of intelligent infinity takes place, serving as the signature of the soul’s readiness for its next level of experience. Could this union also correlate to the union of Shakti with Shiva in Yogic teachings?

Kundalini Awakenings

Awakening kundalini energy can act as a catalyst for spiritual evolution. Yogic teachings explain that awakening kundalini energy can cause an uncontrollable, powerful energy surge that can propel us further along our spiritual paths toward different levels of samadhi. Samadhi refers to deep, blissful superconscious states, with the ultimate state as oneness of self and Source (Bhagavad Gita, 6:31 & Autobiography of a Yogi, 12:94). Sadhguru (Guru, Yogi & Mystic) refers to samadhi as equanimous intellect. There are generally three distinctions of samadhi.

Sabikalpa samadhi (with difference) is considered a temporary state where consciousness is fully absorbed and life force energy is withdrawn from the body, like in suspended animation. Yet, a subtle trace of identification or thought (seed) remains because we’re still under the influence of maya (Autobiography of a Yogi, 26:209-210). Nirbikalpa samadhi (without difference) is the highest state of absorption where all traces of thought, duality, and ego are completely transcended or harmoniously purified. It’s achieving liberation while still retaining a body. Mahasamadhi (great samadhi) is the conscious, voluntary, and final exit from the physical gross body by a liberated soul, achieved while in the state of nirbikalpa samadhi. But we digress…

Kundalini awakenings have been said to trigger a multitude of actions. For example, the beginning of self-realization (enlightenment), heightened consciousness, accelerated healing, unlocked gifts, dissolved illusions, and direct connection to Source (God-realization), to name a few.

Our research suggests kundalini energy can be awakened by trauma. But the most common method seems to be by fixating the mind and breath on Source. This could be done through meditation, breath work, chanting, and yoga, to name a few. Some caution that kundalini awakenings can be dangerous and disruptive if not initiated consciously, especially if we have energy blockages. Others suggest that kundalini awakenings will only happen when we’re ready. Is there a correlation with the serpents mentioned in the Law of One (93:21-22)?
